How to tell if you need to update POS for Retail Administrator =================================================================== 1) Open an Explorer window by double-clicking on the My Computer icon on your desktop. 2) Select the folder where Administrator is installed. By default, this would be "C:\Program Files\Intuit\POS for Retail Administrator" 3) Right-click on the file "qbint32.dll" and select "Properties" 4) In the dialog box that opens, select the "Version" tab. 5) Near the top of the window it should say "File version" followed by 4 numbers separated by periods ("."). This is the version number of the qbint32.dll file. 6) If this version number starts with "1", it needs to be updated. If the version number starts with "2" or higher, then it does not need to be updated. =================================================================== II. Updating the QBInt32.dll File =================================================================== If it is necessary to update the "qbint32.dll" file that is installed with QuickBooks Point of Sale for Retail Administrator ("Administrator"), follow the steps below. H O W T O I N S T A L L =========================== 1) Make sure POS Administrator is not running. 2) Open an Explorer window by double-clicking on the My Computer icon on your desktop. 3) Select the folder where Administrator is installed. By default, this would be "C:\Program Files\Intuit\POS for Retail Administrator" 4) Right-click on the file "qbint32.dll" and select "Rename" 5) Enter a different name for the file. e.g. "qbint32.dll.old" 6) Select the "\Support\POS\" folder on the QuickBooks 2003 installation CD. 7) Right-click on the file "qbint32.dll" and select "Copy". 8) Right click on the Administrator installation folder from step 3) and select "Paste". 9) If you are prompted with a dialog box that says "Would you like to replace the existing file", select "Yes". 10) You may want to confirm the version number of the qbint32.dll file to ensure that the operation completed successfully by following the steps in the section "I. How to tell if you need to update POS for Retail Administrator".
